It was late. But I was “online”: I couldn’t figure out what to tell about myself here. And at that moment, when I gave up and told myself that it was already impossible to work now (as it turned out, the late evening smoothly turned into night), he suddenly came to life one of the messengers and a client who read that I work around the clock (“How come I didn’t manage to edit the “working hours”?) persistently began to write something to me.
It’s hardly worth talking about what brought him to me then, I’ll just say that he was not sober at all (the psychostimulants contained in his blood were enough for ten) and he told how he had just been in an accident and, possibly, killed your girlfriend. . . Imagine: night; a strange person in an altered state, telling wild, dubiously real stories (psychostimulants, especially “salts,” provoke inappropriate perceptions/behavior; phobias; creepy fantasies that seem so “real” that, in comparison with them, reality looks pale and unrealistic), but I need to decide how to talk to him next. . .
In fact, cases similar to this have happened in the practice of any psychologist, and in mine - quite often.
I am the same person who came to the profession of “psychologist” late (I received my second education when I was already a well-known specialist in the first specialty (philology/literary criticism/journalism), and was “ripe” for the “retraining of my dreams”).
Having decided to spend my invaluable time on a second education, I was aware that, in my situation, I needed to start practicing as quickly as possible. And, imagine, I almost instantly found a link between my first profession and my second: it was a metaphor: a story, a story or a “narrative”. Pursuing a diploma in psychology coincided with receiving a certificate as a narrative practitioner. Since then, I have been helping clients create stories about themselves, which I listen carefully to, ask questions, and offer to retell, starting at some point. . .
I don’t want to repeat myself, saying once again that I integrated ORCT and art therapy into narrative practice.
And about how crisis counseling (including remotely) became part of my professional activity, the story with which I started. .
