Of course, a coach is needed primarily to achieve your goals! Often, coaches are told things that are not said to friends and family and even psychologists, so combining the services of a psychologist, coach, and friend will lead you to achieving your goals. A coach is not a motivator! The motivator is you! And a coach is a kind of guide in achieving your goals.
